Snowy Sunday

And then. It snowed.
And they wanted to play. And, I figured since I had already bought the required snow gear for the season, that I was obligated to let them have a day of fun with it. I really would have preferred to skip the hour it takes to dress 4 children in snowsuit, hats and gloves and stay inside. But carpe freaking diem. Out we went.
And. You know what? I actually had fun. It was pretty perfect.
There were snowballs thrown and a few tears. And a dump truck retaliation.
Brian threw me down in the snow and then threw a big handful of snow in my face. Kaden, very concerned, came up to see if I was okay, and asked if I needed an ice pack.
Finley was a better sport than I was.
Sophie likes to play catch. Until she realizes the snow is cold.
We even had a game of snowball baseball.
Amelia sat and watched from the back of Daddy's car. Entertained. Yet, unamused.
They even learned the dos and don'ts of yellow snow. A concept they find hil-a-ri-ous.
I'd love to say that we got our snow fix, but I have a feeling there is still more to come.

The last of the nice days

I hate winter. I feel like I have been bitching about it since the first day of fall. I think I am especially dreading it this year because I'm going to be stuck inside. With my kids. Every. Single. Day. And that's a scary thought. Not because I don't love them. Of course I love them. It's just... What am I supposed to do with them? We are not exactly the homebody type. With that being said, I have been taking every last opportunity to get my kids out while I still can. We go to the park every time the weather hits 35 degrees or more. And Finley runs around trying to(and often succeeding at) keep up with his brothers. I swear, it's only a matter of time before he ends up with a broken bone.
The shedding of the coats. "But Mooooommm! We're so hot! We really are! Really!" They weren't. It was 37 degrees out.
This slide is the one and only thing that he is afraid of at the park.
A bad guy stole my wallet and took it into the sewer. It's a really good thing my kids are super heroes.

*I wrote this post about 2-3 weeks ago and never published it. I am already missing these warmer days.

The Outtakes

This weekend I decided to do a little photo shoot with the kiddos. Just a quick little thing where I get a couple of good shots for a Christmas card, maybe a new Facebook picture while we're at it. Easy peasy right?
Ha.
Right.
Nice try.
I had such high expectations too.
I mean, I even bought a new sheet for the occasion.
AND I put said sheet in the drier to try to remove the wrinkles. (I could've ironed. But. Lets be serious now.)
Taking pictures must give them hives or something.
Then, there are the nose pickers. We keep it classy.
Speaking of classy...
The best part is, we had no idea she had spit up until reviewing the pictures on our computer. Insert joke about being the fourth child here.
At some point. Once all hope is lost. You simply throw in the towel and tell them to be silly.

There's alway next year.

The Littles

It feels as though we have been playing catch-up ever since Halloween. It seems like it was just a few days ago, yet here we are smack dab in the middle of November. I'm not even sure what we've done, but I can tell you, we've been busy. Between the chaos that is kindergarten, preschool, new bunk beds, and toddlers learning to escape the crib I would like to share some photos of the babies.

Amelia turned 4 months old. She is still just teeny tiny. At 4 months she weighs the same as some newborns(10lbs 6oz). We are working with the doctor to fatten her up, but she is healthy and happy.
Highchair dress rehearsal. She started solids and loves being at the table with the rest of the family for dinner.
Strengthening those muscles. Tummy time is hard work. She only looks like this for about 30 seconds before it's full-on tear city.
Finley is active as ever. He knows how to unlock and open the back door by himself. And he doesn't seem to mind 25 degree weather.

Halloween

I am fairly certain that all of our nice fall weather days are behind us. Winter is coming and the only thing I am excited about is this hat.
Fall has been good even if it is leaving too soon. The week leading up to Halloween was a busy one that started with the city of Papillion's fall festival. They had a bounce house right at the entrance and two hours later, we made it into the event. We took a hayrack ride to find pumpkins.
It was like Easter meets Halloween.
Later in the week, I let the boys paint the pumpkins.
Finley trying to get the paint out of Myles's hands
It got really messy really fast.
The next day, my grandparents came in from Arizona. And then, finally, Halloween was here!
trick-or-treaters
We had a great Halloween and an even better weekend with our special visitors. The busy week paired with daylight savings time meant my kids were asleep by 7:30 on Sunday evening. That never happens. Ever.
