Someday

Kaden and Myles are best friends. In fact, today in the car the conversation went like this:
"Myles, you're my best friend right?"
"Yeah. We best friends!"

Now that Finley is getting bigger, it is fun to see his interactions with the big boys. I love how Kaden and Myles take him in and try to include him in their games. But even more than that, I love to watch as Finley watches his older brothers. It is as if he is taking it all in saying, "Someday, I will be big like you. Someday..."
That is supposed to go way up where?
....Someday....

Just don't get too many ideas Fin.

Moments

Summer is coming to an end. School is starting and although we aren't there yet, we are adjusting to a new fall schedule.
Kaden asked me the other day, "Is Amy coming today?"
"No Bud. She had to go back to school so we won't be seeing her as much."
"Oh. Does she go to preschool or something?"
"No, she is a teacher at a big kids' school."
"Oh. That's pretty awesome."

With a new busy schedule to replace our old busy schedule, I have been trying to spend as much quality time with each boy as possible.
"Make this a good one, Mommy. Smile big!"
Kaden is my one who loves to take pictures. He has recently discovered the front side camera on my phone and If I let him, he would probably spend hours taking portraits and making faces at himself.
It looks like we were having a meaningful chat. But really it was more along the lines of, "Kaden, can you please be good today? Please?!?" And he was. Sorta.
Myles's favorite toy is his blue screwdriver. He says he is fixing the car.
He is usually very sweet, even though he is stingy with his kisses. His new favorite thing to say is, "You only get one kiss, Mommy! Just one!" Sometimes we forget he is only two.
 Finley has discovered clapping.
And his tongue. Which are now his two favorite things.
Along with his two favorite rooms, the kitchen and the bathroom.

It's not always easy finding time in the day to give them each the individualized attention they need. Looking back on what feels like a week of pure chaos; It's fun to see that those moments were there, mixed in between temper tantrums, dirty diapers and scribbles on the walls (beds and pillows)

Getting fit

Brian and I, in the spirit of becoming healthier, decided to enroll our family in the YMCA. We geared up, loaded up and headed out to get in our first workout. Well, apparently the kids room isn't open on Sundays. So. We took the clan to the gym. After scaring away the two guys playing basketball, we had the place to ourselves. The boys played basketball.
 Finley crawled around.
 Myles and Finley sang songs.
 And Kaden.
Learned how to do line drills.

iPhone Photography

I saw online that there was a photo contest for the next "Gerber baby." I thought to myself, "Why not? My kids are cute... (I know. Every mom thinks their own kids are cute. But come on. I get stopped in the grocery store all the time by old ladies admiring Finley's cheeks.) ...We could do this." Not to mention the cash prize. Which is already spent. In my mind. It's gonna be awesome. I went to enter Finley and realized I didn't have the perfect picture. Seriously though. I've got one shot (literally) to make this happen. It's gotta be a good one. I spent the rest of the afternoon in a photo shoot with Fin Man. Luckily for both of us he was in a good mood. I got some good shots, mostly just okay shots. But definitely. Not the perfect one.
They were either blurry,
or not quite the right expression,
or he had stuff in his mouth,
or otherwise just not perfect.
We even did a wardrobe change.
And... Encountered the same set of problems.
And then some.
It's easy to capture a great shot when our future isn't on the line. I mean I was planning on buying a camera with my winnings, so I could graduate from iPhone photography.
I did make an entry:
With this one. Which you may recognize. From a previous post. All that hard work for nothing. Well. Nothing but a blog post.

Yum. Yum.

The doctor said we could start introducing finger foods to Finley. We started with puffs, and when he didn't like those I thought, maybe he would like these yogurt balls.
Let's see if Mom knows best...
 Starting to dissolve already. Yummy.
Got It!
In it goes... So far so good.
Make sure it's all the way in and...
Oh man. I don't think I like it...
Nope. Don't like it. Not at all.
It was so terrible that he was making horrible choking and gaging sounds. I thought he was actually going to throw up. Once it dissolved all the way, I did what any good parent would. I tried again. And... Again.

Geeks

Upon picking up Kaden from daycare the other day, he looked up and said, "Mommy! There are five planets! Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter and Uranus. Five of the planets are in the dark." I sorta just stood there and stared at him. "What?" I thought, "You're still just four right?" I then sent Brian a text (he's sorta a science geek) telling him how we absolutely have the smartest kids in the whole world. No doubt.
Brian came home from work, proud as can be, sporting 4 books about planets. The boys sat down at their table to work on their "homework."
Kaden told us all about Earth, "It's the blue and green planet. We live there. All the peoples live there."
Earlier he had told me, "We live on Earth. All the good boys and girls live here. No mad guys (bad guys) live here, just the good boys and girls."
"See, Myles. That one there. We live there."
After dinner, Daddy read them some passages from their books. I'll have to admit, I found it all very interesting. Did you know, it take Pluto 248 years to orbit the sun? That's just crazy!
