For whatever the reason, once the weather turns cool, I start getting a domestic itch. It's like Martha Stewart meets the Cake Boss. Except I can't bake. Seriously, I couldn't even get my kids to eat the dessert I made. "Just eat three bites, then you can be done." but instead they piled it onto Finley's plate who pushed it around with his fork for a bit and then got up and walked away. As for my friend Martha, my boys can destroy 4 rooms in the time I can unload my dishwasher, so you know my house is far from tidy and organized. I have however been getting my decorating on.
There are bats on the wall.
And bats on the lights.
Finley tried 800 times to get that purple bat to stick. It kept him occupied for 38 seconds.
Which is about how long this stayed on the wall before getting ripped to shreds. Thanks Fin.
We made monster cups. I thought if I let them play with stickers they wouldn't be interested in my Sharpie.
I was wrong.
Finley tried to make the window cling stick to his cup. He's 0 for 2.
I stuck white construction paper in the cups to make the tea lights not so visible. Kaden's monster is on the end. It's upside-down and my favorite.
Remember Halloween 2 or 3 years ago when Target had really cute monster stuff out? Yeah, me too. I miss it.
I decided I wanted a new picture to replace toddler Kaden and baby Myles in the monster frame. I put everyone in their costumes and we went to take photos. This is what I got.
Option 1: Sully's butt and Amelia with a blindfold instead of a headband
Option 2: 1 out of 4 is looking at the camera.
Option 3: Amelia rolls away.
They're much easier to photograph individually. While they're still babies.
Marilyn Monroe. She will never be allowed to try this again.
Finally you've got our monster door. Perhaps my most favorite decoration ever.
And Finley finally got something to stick.
The decorations and projects rarely go according to plan with so many young children running around, and most won't make it until Halloween. That's not going to stop me from trying. They enjoy it and it makes me happy. I may even try to bake again soon. I'm thinking butterscotch cookies.
