Certain Days

I'm behind. Again. But, you guys should be used to that by now. I'm not even sure what I want to post about. I was going to talk about Christmas or maybe New Years Eve and now I'm not in the mood for any of that. So, maybe we should start with now and work our way backwards. See where it gets us. See what we got time for. Ya know?

We signed Kaden and Myles up for swim classes. They are having a blast so far. Kaden had a little hiccup last night before his third class. He didn't want to go because swimming is too hard. I tried to tell him that sometimes things in life are hard, but they're worth it in the end. I told him it only seems hard now but once he learns it will be easy. I even tried to motivate him by telling him how much fun it will be the next time we visit Arizona if he can swim on his own. For almost two hours I tried to be a good mom and motivate him to want to go to swim class. In the end, it was the bribery that worked. I promised him ice cream if he did his lesson. And he did it. And he loved it. He got out and said, "I want to do 100 swim classes!" So yes, hiccup or not, they are having a blast.
Myles, who took a few seasons to come around to swim classes, is just here to have a great time.

Earlier in the year, we had a few winter advisory days. Which translates into pajama days. Which really means I'm stuck in the house with these kids all day long and I have no hope of an escape. I'm feeling all panicky just thinking about it again. I looked on Pinterest for ideas of cold weather activities. I found a recipe for moon sand. 8 cups of flour mixed with 1 cup of oil. I used vegetable oil, you know, keep it edible. Just in case.
I gave each kid their own bowl and cup to play with. And we had some fun.

Brian promised the kids they could have McDonalds once over winter break. They proceeded to ask for McDonalds every. Single. Day. Of their break. When they finally got it, I told them they had to stop asking for McDonalds every day. I said, "We only have McDonalds on special days." From then on, every day, "Mommy, is today a special day?" Finally, I said, "Yes. Every day is a special day(you can only tell kids it's not a special day so many times before you feel like a dream crusher), but we only eat McDonalds on certain days." "Well. Is today a certain day?"

I said I wasn't in the mood to talk about Christmas or New Years Eve. Mainly because there is too much to talk about, and not enough pictures to capture our entire holiday. Here are a few of my favorite photos that I wanted to share.
Uncle Winston
Best. Santa. Gift. Ever.
I said, "Wow! Sis really enjoys her gift from Santa, he did a great job!"
Myles looks at me and says (with a teenage type attitude), "No he didn't."
"Yeah, she got that gift from Santa. He did good."
"Um… No. The elves made it. The elves did good."
Point taken.
We threw a New Years Eve party. Just for us. I made bags that the kids could open every hour as we counted down. They had games, movies and snacks. Everything needed to occupy little ones into the wee hours of the morning.
Cheers. And a belated happy holidays to you.
